创作背景
杰克逊已经有一个长期的投身慈善或社会事业的历史，杰克逊用自己的名望和财富来促进各种慈善事业，他曾在1985年创作慈善歌曲《天下一家》。
这首歌曲创作自1995年，当时世界战争不断，污染越来越严重，在那样的历史背景下，迈克尔杰克逊亲自作词，作曲以及编曲和制作，创作了《地球之歌》。
《地球之歌》（Earth Song）最初以《我们呢》（What About Us）的名字为《危险》（Dangerous）专辑而作，后经重新制作和优化，入选了《历史》（HIStory）专辑。
