定義
介詞和它的賓語構成介詞短語，在句中作狀語，表語，補語，定語或介詞賓語。
使用方法介紹
at (1)表示在小的範圍内; (2)表示“在……附近、旁邊” (3)後面跟具體時間，例如：I get up at 6：00
in (1)表示在大的範圍内; (2)表示“在…範圍之内”。 (3)In+the+地點，例如：In the tree
on 表示毗鄰，接壤
to 表示在……範圍外，不強調是否接壤
He arrived at the station at ten：他十點到達了車站
He is sitting at the desk：他坐在桌子上
He arrived in Shanghai yesterday：他昨天到達上海
Jiangsu lies in the east of China：江蘇位于中國的東部
Russia live on the north of China：俄羅斯在中國的北部
Fujian is to the south of Jiangsu Province：福建省位于江蘇省的南邊
2)above, on 在……上
above 指在……上方,不強調是否垂直，與 below相對；
on表示某物體上面并與之接觸。
The bird is flying above my head：鳥在我頭上飛
He put his watch on the desk：他把他的手表放在桌子上
3)below, under 在……下面
under表示在…正下方
below表示在……下，不一定在正下方
There is a cat under the table：桌子下面有一隻貓
Please write your name below the line：請把你的名字寫在下面

值得指出的是：當介詞短語作表語時，它可以用來表示正在進行的動作（或存在的狀态），有時還能起到一定的修辭作用。著名英語專家周海中先生1981年在《介詞短語的一個用法》一文中首先介紹了這一特殊用法，從而引起了人們對它的關注和研究。現分别舉例說明：
1.介詞after
The police are after（=are chasing） him. [警方正在追捕他。]
He is after（=is inquiring） information. [他在打聽消息。]
2.介詞at
He is at work. [他正在工作。]
The children are at play. [孩子們正在玩耍。]
3.介詞in
They are in love. [他們在戀愛。]
The plane is in flight. [飛機正在飛行中。]
4.介詞on
He is on duty. [他正在值班。]
She was on leave last week. [上周她在休假。]
5.介詞under
The road is under repair（=is being repaired）. [路正在修建。]
The question is under discussion（=is being discussed）. [這個問題正在讨論中。]
