LadyGaga在接受采访时称，《Judas》的内容充满了说教意味，歌曲的内容是关于一个女人一次又一次错误地爱上错误的男人。
歌曲的创作灵感源自背叛LadyGaga的前男友，Gaga想把她的前男友比作背叛耶稣的犹大。而“犹大”来源于圣经，所以歌曲中有包含宗教内容的元素。
Gaga认为这首歌的含义是自己虽然朝着光亮的部分走，但一方面又与背后的恶魔亲近，用来表达自己错爱的经历。
