剧情简介
米娅·泰梅波莉斯(安妮·海瑟薇饰)是一个和母亲一起生活在旧金山的美国高中生。在一群张扬、活力四射的同学中，她显得很不自信，普通得会被老师忘记名字。米娅和她的单亲妈妈住在一起，有着自己生活的小圈子，在她的能力可以控制的范围内，米娅平凡的生活着。
在米娅16岁生日到来前，她忽然被告知要与她的奶奶克拉丽莎·雷纳尔蒂(茱莉·安德鲁斯饰)见面。当米娅终于见到这位气质非凡，谈吐高贵女士时，她才发现，她的奶奶是欧洲小国吉诺维亚的女王。而她，正是这个国度的公主。
米娅的世界一下子改变了！为了可以顺利继承这一身份，女王对米娅开始了全方位的改变。米娅的不拘小节和王室的繁杂规矩冲突中，笑料百出……终于，米娅的形象被改变得像个美丽的公主了。

《公主日记》（又译皇室俏佳人）的主题起码可以追溯到灰姑娘和丑小鸭的故事，尽管场景搬到了现代的旧金山，它的童话色彩依然十分浓厚。因此，评价该片不应该脱离这个前提。
《公主日记》的主角是一个芳龄15的都市少女，影片的目标观众也应该是同龄人。这是一个做梦的年龄，大多数中学女生都梦想着嫁给现代版的白马王子，如偶像派歌星等，或许其中有人敢大胆把自己设想成公主，但这样的白日梦也仅限于陶醉于言情文艺作品的短暂时光。
《公主日记》便把这样一个属于不可能的梦想，转化成两小时的真实，用影片中的话来说，就是“中了遗传上的六合彩”。喜欢该片的观众必须保持一份童真，不去用审视现实的目光寻找童话故事的破绽。该片并没有试图全方位反映少女世界，更没有任何打破传统模式的妄想，它只是想为一个古老的童话穿上新装。
《公主日记》的结局全在意料之中，但整个过程的细节却异常丰富，情趣盎然，如同精彩的情景喜剧，每分钟都设有小小的惊喜。影片属于轻喜剧，风格夸张而不带刺，甜又不腻。当影片的最后一个镜头把米娅带到她即将统治的小国时，我们看到那古堡颇似迪斯尼乐园
《公主日记》的两位主角选得非常贴切，米娅的扮演者安妮·海瑟薇虽然年近21，但实在大有15年前朱丽娅·罗伯茨的风范，从嗓音、表情到笑容都残留着大嘴美人的影子。这一点也不奇怪，如果说罗伯茨的《风月俏佳人》是灰姑娘的妓女版，那么《公主日记》就是该童话的现代少女版，两部作品的精髓是相同的；其次，两部影片是同一个导演，因此这种巧合更不是偶然的。
茱莉·安德鲁斯最经典的电影当然是传世之作《欢乐满人间》（Mary Poppins和《音乐之声》。以平民形象着称的她却越老越高贵，从骨子里渗透出那种皇室的尊严。安德鲁斯从来没有奥黛丽·赫本的美艳和魅力，但她在戏里戏外都有一种难以抵抗的亲和力。
