幕後花絮
本片導演約翰·舒爾茨此前指導過阿德林·格林内爾主演的輕松喜劇《讓我瘋狂》，以及一部鮮有人提起的《花車》，而他下一部發目标将是“天才瑞普利”系列小說的一集搬上銀幕。而影片的編劇邁克爾·艾列特則是一位初出茅廬的新手。
在影片公映前不久，美國的電力機構對影片中主人公從高壓線上解下球鞋的場景提出質疑，認為此舉會造成兒童模仿的危險，為此，影片必須特别注明該舉動的危險性，以避免麻煩。

生活在孤兒院的凱文和小夥伴們得到了一批慈善人士的捐助品，其中有一雙寫有NBA頂級籃球明星邁克爾·喬丹名字縮寫的籃球鞋。凱文認定那是喬丹小時候穿過的鞋，對它愛不釋手。但是搗蛋鬼阿克斯卻強行搶下了球鞋，并将它扔到了電線上。
風雨交加的深夜，凱文偷偷爬上大樹想要把鞋拿下來，一聲雷鳴将凱文和球鞋都擊落了下來，幸好凱文沒有受傷。穿上了心愛的球鞋，凱文和夥伴們一起到賽場觀看NBA騎士隊的比賽。由于比賽上座率低，經紀人想到了讓著名球員特西與觀衆互動的點子來帶動現場氣氛。凱文成為了幸運觀衆并被邀請上台和特西進行比賽。面對心中的偶像，凱文興奮不已。本以為隻是一次普通的墊場表演，卻令凱文和特西以及當時在場的所有觀衆終身難忘。穿着喬丹籃球鞋的凱文竟然三次突破特西的防守并投籃命中，其中甚至還有灌籃，對這個身高隻有5英尺的男孩來說簡直是不可思議。
經紀人找到凱文的監護人比特曼，并簽訂了讓凱文加入騎士隊的協議，比特曼從中賺取了大量傭金。凱文開始随騎士隊參加各種比賽，隻要有他在場，就能調動全隊的氣氛，比賽上座率大大提升，很多人開始追捧這個隻有14歲的男孩。經紀人視凱文為寶，經過教練同意，凱文被安排與特西住在同一房間。對于凱文在大庭廣衆之下打敗自己，特西心中多少有些不自在，但在特西看來，凱文到底隻是個孩子，或許隻是運氣好。但凱文卻一如既往地崇拜特西，他們一起練球，一起玩耍，不久便成為了好朋友。凱文十分希望能和特西長期住在一起，如果特西可以收養自己就太好了。但當凱文得知特西和自己的父親許多年來都沒有來往時，他失望了。一個對親生父親都如此冷淡的人又怎麼能做自己的養父，承擔起照顧下一代的責任呢。盡管如此，凱文還是找機會聯系到了特西的父親，讓他們相見。可惜結果并不像凱文想像的那樣，特西和父親不歡而散。
在凱文和特西的配合下，騎士隊終于迎來了最關鍵的比賽——如果打赢就可以進入NBA總決賽，這是騎士隊有史以來的最好成績，大家都不想輕易放棄。然而此刻比特曼卻打起了凱文的主意，他從阿克斯口中得知凱文的球技全靠腳上的那雙鞋，于是設計讓凱文離開，并将球鞋藏了起來。比特曼到黑市賭球，并極有信心地宣稱凱文将不會參加這場比賽，他押重金就等着看騎士隊輸掉這場比賽。
已經歸隊的凱文發現球鞋不見了，他立即返回孤兒院，并發動好朋友們幫自己尋找球鞋。最終在比特曼的保險箱裡發現了球鞋。黑社會的攔截并沒有阻止凱文歸隊，凱文的到來為球隊帶來了轉機。但比賽中凱文的球鞋卻被踩壞了，他知道自己的神奇力量将不複存在，他想到了退縮。但特西卻鼓勵凱文打完比賽，并深信他将戰勝自我。終于在凱文和特西的配合下，騎士隊赢得了比賽。凱文宣布退出騎士隊做一個普通的孩子，此刻特西才發現自己已經無法和凱文分開。他試着和父親溝通，發現其實并沒有想像中的那麼困難。特西到孤兒院辦理了領養凱文的手續，這讓凱文喜出望外，他的願望終于實現了，他将擁有一個真正的家，最重要的是和自己的隊友、偶像生活在一起。

本片的主演，裡奧寶娃(Lil' Bow Wow)今年三月剛滿23歲，已經是美國樂壇不可小瞧的人物。裡奧寶娃原名薩得·格雷高裡·莫斯(Shad Gregory Moss)，1987年3月9日出生在俄亥俄州的哥倫布市。裡奧寶娃是著名說唱歌手Snoop Dogg的外甥，在家族的影響下，寶娃自3歲起便能夠進行說唱，并因此獲得了吉尼斯世界紀錄。
