創作背景
卡朋特樂隊由著名的歌星卡朋特與她哥哥理查德·卡朋特組成，卡倫·卡朋特1950年生于美國康耐狄格州，從小在哥哥的影響下學習樂器，成了一名鼓手，大她三歲的哥哥理查德是個非常有才華的青年，擔任鋼琴伴奏和制作人，并創作了大量歌曲。
後來在著名經紀人德紐文的幫助下，進入了美國流行樂壇。1970年一曲《靠近你》(CloseToYou)榮登排行榜首，這使卡朋特樂隊一炮走紅，70年代中他們不斷有佳作聞世，成為無數美國青年的偶像，尼克松總統稱卡朋特兄妹是最出色的美國青年。
令人婉惜的是卡倫·卡朋特年僅32歲便過早地離去。她死于神經性厭食症。這是由于她為了保持身材的苗條，長期服用輕瀉劑，與長期節食的嚴重後果。
1983年2月4日她死于深愛她的父母懷中。卡倫·卡朋特嗓音優美，演唱親切自然，略帶傷感，加之他們運用了多軌錄音技術，因此他們的唱片無論在藝術上或技術上都非常成功，是當代流行音樂的精品。
